ParisKoh FineArts proud to present a collaboration exhibition “Once Upon a Time: Bok-Seang Chung, Haekyeng Cho, SCARS Team (SCARS: Erica Moon, Shubhangi Shekhar, Zoya To, Deb Kim, Borah Hong, Jenni Lo Pan, Belle Sisoski).". This exhibition will run from Jan. 10 -30, 2023 with an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 13th from 6-8 pm.

Have you ever imagined a world other than the one we live in? What would you do if one day you came to know another world, and it was so close to the world we exist in that we could cross into it? When I was young, I imagined a fantasy world as if the world existed in a fairy tale and I imagined going on adventures with the characters in the story. This is just a daydream, but maybe there really is such a world, and maybe the characters living in it are dreaming of a different world.

Through this exhibition, we will invite the world of video and canvas to the world in which we exist.

There are many different worlds in canvases and videos. Those worlds are all works created through the artist's imagination. However, not everyone can see the world through and through, and some people simply see it as a 2D campus or an image on the screen. The characters who lived in the work happened to see the world that existed beyond their own space, so they boldly stepped out from within the canvas and came out into the world we live in. To our eyes, they only look like dolls who are unable to move, but each of them will have their own world and life. We need our imagination to look into their world.

A daydream of a fairy tale world that I have never experienced since becoming an adult... I hope that today, through this exhibition, you will have time to dream of that world and return to your childhood.

우리가 살고 있는 이세상 외에 다른 세상을 상상해 본적이 있는가? 어느날 또 다른 세상을 알게 되고 그 세상이 우리가 현존하는 세상과 가까이에 있어 넘나들수 있다면 당신은 어찌 하겠는가?

어릴때는 동와속 세상이 현존하는듯 환상의 세상을 상상해 보기도 하고 그 동화속 인물들과 함께 어드벤츄어를 헤쳐 나가는 상상을 해본적이 있다. 이것은한때의 백일몽 같은 상상 이지만 어쩌면 정말 그런 세상이 있을지도 모르고 그 세상에 사는 인물들도 다른 세상을 꿈꾸고 있을지도 모른다.

켄버스와 영상 속에는 아주 다양한 세상들이 존재하고 있다. 그세상들은 모두 작가의 상상력을 통해 창조된 작품들인데, 우리들 눈에는 작품속 그들의 세상이 단순하게 2D 켄버스나 스크린속 영상으로만 보일 뿐이다.

이번전시를 통해 영상과 켄버스속의 세상을 우리가 현존하는 세상으로 초대를 해보기로 한다.

작품 속에 살던 인물들이 어느날 우연히 작품 밖에 존재하는 세상을 알게 되었다. 그래서 그들은 과감하게 작품속 세상을 탈출하여 우리가 살고 있는 이 세상으로 건너오게 되었다. 우리눈엔 미동도 없는 인형들로 보일 뿐이지만 그들 각각에게는 그들 나름의 세상과 삶이 있을것이다. 이들의 세상을 들여다 보기위해선 우리들의 상상력이 필요하다.

어른이 된후론 한번도 해본적이 없는 동화속 세상을 꿈꾸던 백일몽…. 오늘 이 전시를 통해서 여러분들이 그 세상을 꿈꾸어 보고 동심으로 돌아가는 시간이 되길 바란다.
