Jinistar: Ootheca
Paris Koh Fine Arts (201 Bridge Plaza North, Suite 1, Fort Lee, NJ) is delighted to present the Solo exhibition Ootheca: Jinistar. The exhibition will run from February 4 to 28, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, February 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
In this exhibition, the Artist Jinistar’s recent works UFO: Unidentified Flying Object, will be unveiled, showcasing the deep artistic expressions that the artist has developed through their body of work. Jinistar has explored the question, "What exactly am I?" throughout their career, and it is through the expression of their inner femininity that they began living a more authentic life. This exhibition is a reflective moment for the artist, looking back on and consolidating their artistic journey as they have come to understand and accept themselves while delving into gender and identity.
The UFO: Unidentified Flying Object reflects the artist’s personal journey of transcending the binary gender norms of the society in which they were raised, exploring the boundaries of gender and seeking freedom. The butterfly in the artwork symbolizes the artist's achieved freedom and self-acceptance, while its center, which may resemble female genitalia, is actually an artistic representation of a flower. This piece conveys the artist’s personal identity and delivers a message of respect for gender diversity and freedom in the contemporary world.
Through his previous exhibitions, Jinistar received comments such as "This work is exactly you," which confirmed that their art transcends mere visual expression and connects deeply with people on an emotional level. His work has sometimes been misunderstood due to its flamboyant appearance, but on the other hand, it has been recognized for its authenticity. In this exhibition, Jinistar expresses the natural, unadorned self, aiming to convey the freedom and joy that he personally feels to the audience. The new works go beyond visual aesthetics, capturing the internal changes and growth the artist has undergone.
Jinistar’s solo exhibition ‘Ootheca’ will offer the audience an opportunity to explore the artist’s inner world and free-spirited identity, while conveying the deep artistic journey and societal messages the artist has cultivated over time.
